Cluster mission to Japan "Biotechnology Sector" - Tokyo & Yokohama, 7-11 October 2013

Targeting the Biotechnology sectors, the mission will be organised in the fringes of “BioJapan 2013” Expo in Yokohama in October 2013 (www.ics-expo.jp/biojapan/). It will be composed of lectures, visits to Japanese clusters as well as "cluster to cluster" and "BtoB" meetings organised on the “BioJapan 2013” Expo premises.
 
The mission shall contribute to improve the cooperation strategies between EU and Japanese clusters and will give European SMEs the opportunity to enter the Japanese market and establish technology or business partnerships.
 
Participant profiles will be based on couples “Cluster & SME”, that means participant from European Clusters will have to select a SME among its members. There will be 16 places available (8 for EU clusters and 8 for EU SMEs members of the participating clusters).
 
Sectors: The sectors targeted are among others the ones covered by BioJapan2013 Expo such as:

  • Drug and Drug Discovery (Small-Molecule Drug, Biologics, Vaccine etc.)
  • Drug Discovery Support and Contract Services (Drug Synthesis Services, Analysis Contract Services and Chemical Compound Libraries etc.)
  • Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices
  • Functional Food and Agriculture
  • Medical Treatment, Diagnosis and Medical Devices and Equipments
  • Research Devices, Bioinformatics and Bio imaging etc.

Costs to be covered by the EU-Japan Centre:

  • Tuition fees (for SMEs)
  • Transfers during group company visits and to/from Yokohama
  • BioJapan Trade Fair registration fee including access to the exhibition & annex hall
  • BioJapan access to the partnering area and the matching (partnering) system, lunch for 3 days, welcome reception and closing cocktail
  • Trade fair booth arrangements
  • 6-night accommodation
  • Interpretation

Costs to be covered by the participants:
Participants must cover their travel costs to/from Japan, transfer from / to the airport and any other costs not covered directly by the EU-Japan Centre. Clusters must pay a (non-refundable) contribution of €1,475 towards the costs incurred by the EU-Japan Centre in relation to the cluster's participation. To facilitate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participation in the course, no contribution will be asked. SMEs companies must pay a (refundable) deposit of €500 to guarantee the place on the course.
